The International Folklore Festival “Hora Mare”, reached its 21st edition, is one of the most important cultural events in Calarasi county. The organizer of the festival is the Calarasi County Council, through the County Cultural Center. During August, this festival promotes the culture and dances of folk ensembles from several countries, such as Argentina, Armenia, Bulgaria, France, Georgia, Italy, Lithuania, Serbia, etc. Folklore shows are held to promote authentic traditions through music, dance and folk port.

The event, held under the aegis of CIOFF - the International Council for the Organization of Folk Festivals and Traditional Art, a UNESCO partner brings together some of the most talented performers, as well as the masters of dance.
Pitfalls and challenges
Being organized by the County Council, through the County Cultural Center, the allocated funds are quite small, resulting in an increasingly smaller presence.
Opportunities and plans for the future
The existence of different financing possibilities for the creation of accommodation spaces needed to support a much larger number of participants.
