Castelvecchio Calvisio – Abruzzo

Castelvecchio Calvisio (L'Aquila) is a village of very ancient origins which is located within the Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga National Park at an altitude of 1045 meters). A wall defends the ancient village with houses leaning against each other, narrow and characteristic alleys, countless, stone stairs outside the houses that allow you to go up to the upper floors. An atmosphere of peace and tranquility, veined by a subtle melancholy, pervades the place and lets imagine the harsh existence conducted in the past during the harsh winters of Abruzzo. The village which, which has suffered considerable damage since the last earthquake, is currently inhabited by less than 200 people.
